With success comes heightened expectations. Following a successful first year campaign under head coach Barry Odom, the pundits are picking the Rebels to have another strong season.

The Rebels, who tied for the regular season MW title, are picked to finish just behind Boise State, who they faced in the MW championship in 2023. The Rebels haven't been picked this highly since the 2001 season under John Robinson.

Rounding out the conference, Fresno State was picked third (460), Air Force fourth (384), Colorado State fifth (337), Wyoming sixth (296), Utah State seventh (285), San Diego State eighth (251), Hawai'i ninth (214), San Jose State 10th (185), New Mexico 11th (85) and UNR 12th (77) .

A UNLV record six players were picked for the 2024 Preseason All-Mountain West Team by the media.

Senior linebacker Jackson Woodard joined senior wide receiver Ricky White III, senior offensive tackle Tiger Shanks and senior cornerback Cameron Oliver on the All-MW team. Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year Jacob De Jesus earned the votes at both punt returner and kickoff returner.
