Mississippi State outrebounded the Rebels 46-29 and scored 30 second chance points off 19 offensive rebounds to easily defeat the Rebels 80-58 in Tempe, Arizona on Thanksgiving night.
The UNLV Rebels lost the first game of the Arizona Tip-Off to the #25 Mississippi State Bulldogs 80-58 on Thanksgiving. As a consolation game, the Rebels will face Northwestern on Friday at 4pm PST.
The game was never in doubt. The Rebels (4-2) jumped out to a very early 8-2 lead after a Jalen Hill three pointer, but it was all Mississippi State (6-0) after that.
Crushing the Rebels on the boards and draining threes, the Bulldogs led by as many as 19 in the first half before settling for a 45-32 lead at the half.
It didn't get any better for the Rebels in the second half. The Bulldogs were able to boost their lead to as much as 28 points in the second half while running in cruise control. UNLV was led by Jailen Bedford's 13 points.
