In his short tenure as UNLV head coach, Barry Odom led UNLV to a 19-8 record with two appearances in the MWC championship game.

The Rebels lost both of those games against Boise, but UNLV compiled a 12-3 record in league play. UNLV (10-3) lost 21-7 to Boise State in Friday night's MWC title game.

He replaces Ryan Walters, who went 5-19 over two seasons at Purdue and was fired after a season-ending 11-game losing streak.
