It's not often that Rebel fans have to scoreboard watch when it comes to football, but Saturday night the fan's eyes were firmly affixed on the late night contest between Colorado State and Fresno State.

Colorado State, which was undefeated in conference before kickoff, was a game ahead of #21 UNLV in the conference standings. Boise State, who won a squeaker at Wyoming Saturday afternoon, remained undefeated at 7-0 in conference and will occupy the top spot, home field advantage in the Championship game on Friday, Dec 6th at 5 pm PST.

In the event of a tie for second place in the standings with Colorado State, the Rebels hold the tiebreaker advantage. Colorado State had the easy path in conference, avoiding both UNLV and #11 Boise State, but they slipped up at a bowl eligibility seeking Fresno State.

Fresno dominated the Rams in the first half, but their offense failed to score a point in the second half. Still, it was enough to hold onto a 28-22 victory and knot the Rams in that second place tie with UNLV. The Bulldog victory may go a long way in removing interim tag from Tim Skipper's title.

Even if Boise State were to lose next week while hosting Oregon State, the Broncos will host the MWC Championship game regardless of how the rest of the league slate plays out. If the Rebels close out the season with a win over UNR and the Broncos fold against the Beavers, Boise still holds the head to head tiebreaker over the Rebels with the 29-24 win at Allegiant in late October.

A Rebel win over in-state rival UNR would place the Rebels in the bowl game against the Broncos regardless of the outcome of the Utah State at Colorado State game. A loss by the Rams would put the Rebels in the championship regardless of the Rebel outcome. For Colorado State to beat out the Rebels for the championship game, it would require both a UNLV loss and CSU victory.

The Rebels will be heavily favored against UNR and they should have their biggest crowd of the season, but rivalry games have a different spin.

UNR is winless in the conference season and are looking at yet another 10 loss campaign. UNLV has become the Wolf Pack's Superbowl and a spoiling victory over the Rebels is the only thing that could save another disappointing season.

UP NEXT: The Rebels will close out their regular-season schedule with a Senior Day home game vs. UNR on Nov. 30 at 5 p.m. and tickets are available by visiting UNLVTickets.com. The game will be televised nationally CBS Sports Network.
