Rice gets five-year extension

The Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents on Thursday voted to approve five-year contracts for UNLV men's basketball head coach Dave Rice and women's basketball head coach Kathy Olivier. It also approved a three-year contract for new UNLV softball head coach Lisa Dodd.

Rice, who is in his second year coaching the Runnin' Rebels, and Olivier, who is in her fifth year coaching the Lady Rebels, are both now signed through the 2016-17 season.

"We are very happy with these contract approvals," UNLV Athletics Director Jim Livengood said. "I would like to thank the Board of Regents and (UNLV President) Neal Smatresk for their continued support of UNLV Athletics and these three fine coaches who are wonderful representatives for UNLV and our student-athletes."
