The Rebels are off to their first 2-0 start since the 1999 season under John Robinson. The 72-14 victory was as expected and essentially, the Rebels were able to pick the final score. Aside from a breakdown in the secondary on the Tech's first series to tie the game at seven, there were no surprises.

In a game where seemingly everyone played, Ricky White had three touchdown catches and added a blocked punt on special teams.

The Rebels racked up a program record 695 yards of offense with 504 coming on the ground from 12 different players. Sophomore Jai'Den Thomas opened the scoring with a 27 yard run on the Rebels third play from scrimmage. Freshman Greg Burrell (Desert Pines) led the Rebels on the ground with 101 yards on 11 carries, including his first career touchdown in the third quarter.

Ricky White scored on three successive drives in the first quarter to put the Rebels up 28-7 after the first quarter.

Three Caden Chittenden field goals and a Matthew Sluka scamper from 30 yards out gave the Rebels an insurmountable 44-7 lead at halftime.

Hajj-Malik Williams saw his first action of the season in relief of Sluka in the second half. With UNLV going conservative and looking to milk the clock, Williams ran for 88 yards on 10 carries. Cameron Friel entered in the fourth quarter and engineered two scoring drives, one a keeper from a yard out.

The bad news for the Rebels is starting linebacker Marsel McDuffie was carted off the field with an injury. He later returned to the sidelines on crutches.

The Rebels (2-0) next get a rematch of last year’s 49-36 Guaranteed Rate Bowl loss to Kansas. The No. 19-ranked Jayhawks (1-1), who lost to Illinois 23-17 on Saturday, host the Rebels at 4 p.m. Friday in Kansas City, Kansas. The game will be aired on ESPN.
