As the UNLV Rebels (3-0) fine tune things during the bye week, they next see action when they host Fresno State in the conference opener Saturday, September 28th at Allegiant Stadium. Following the conference opener, the Rebels will host Syracuse at the same venue the following Friday.

Fresno State completed their sweep of the State of Enchantment on Saturday, walloping NMSU 48-0 two weeks ago in Fresno and easily winning in Albuquerque 38-21 as a two touchdown favorite. The Bulldogs only loss of the season was a 30-10 decision at Michigan.

Fresno Interim Head Coach Tim Skipper, who was defensive coordinator at UNLV under Tony Sanchez for a season, hopes to do enough to keep the job permanently. The Bulldogs are off to a 3-1 start heading into Las Vegas for a date with the Rebels.

Following Fresno State, the Rebels host Syracuse at Allegiant in their only back-to-back home games on the season.

It was hopeful that it would be a clash between two ranked teams, but Syracuse dropped their conference opener against Stanford. Syracuse led only once in the game, that coming with two minutes left in front of the home crowd, but the Cardinal converted a difficult fourth down and followed it up with a 39 yard field goal to win 26-24. As a new member of the ACC, it was Stanford's first victory in the conference.
