Coach Charlie Spoonhour and the Runnin' Rebels signed two highly touted junior collegians this week. With a need for size on the inside, the Rebels collected two of the better post players available in the Juco ranks.

The Official Letter of Intent of J.K Edwards, a 6-8, 260 pound PF/C from JC powerhouse Indian Hills CC in Ottumwa, Iowa arrived in the UNLV basketball offices Monday afternoon.

UNLV beat out Wisconsin, Iowa, Iowa State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, St. Louis, Tennessee, and Texas Christian among others for his services. This past summer Edwards performed in South America with current Rebel Marcus Banks in the Tournament of the Americas.

Edwards has been rated as the #1 center in the junior college ranks by Rick Ball in the Sporting News Pre-Season Yearbook. He is said to be the best low post player in the junior college ranks this year.
The second Letter of Intent arrived in the basketball offices Wednesday afternoon - sort of. While the original copy has yet to arrive, UNLV received a faxedcopy of James Peters' Letter of Intent. The original letterwill arrive shortly, but it is only required that Peters signs the official thedocument by the deadline of November 21st.So UNLV is safe with the faxed copy for now.
Peters, a 6-8, 215 pound power forward from Butler County C.C. in El Dorado, Kansas is a player who fell through recruiting cracks. Peters, who is a solid prospect out of Julian (Chicago), went the Juco route after a successful prep campaign. As a freshman at Butler County last season, Peters averaged 13 points and 6 rebounds per game. However,
any deserved notoriety fell by the wayside as Peters failed to attend any camps last summer. His physical presence and low post abilities should help the Rebels immediately.
Both players will join Georgetown transfer Demetrius Hunter to round out a very successful class for Coach Spoonhour.
