Rebels fall short in seesaw affair

UNLV dropped a 78-75 decision to the Loyola Marymount Lions Saturday in Henderson at the Dollar Loan Center as part of the Jack Jones Classic. The tight game saw 12 ties and 11 lead changes before freshman phenom Dedan Thomas’ floater in the lane with three seconds left misfired.

The Rebels trailed by five points with 30 seconds left before a final surge that gave them a shot to win the game.

Thomas finished with a career high tying 17 points to go along with 8 assists.

Dominick Harris led the Lions (6-4) with 29 points on 10-for-19 shooting and 5-for-11 from long range.

For the Rebels, Kalib Boone chipped in 15 points with five blocked shots while Isiah Cotrell added 14 points. The Rebels played without leading rebounder Jalen Hill who is out with a wrist injury.

The Rebels (3-4) will play a second straight game at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson on Wednesday, Dec. 13 vs. No. 10 Creighton at 6 p.m. as part of the Jack Jones Classic.
