What we are thankful for

There is so much for UNLV Runnin' Rebel fans to be thankful for this holiday season that Joe Spilotro and T.E. Parker, co-publishers of Rebelnet, wanted to point out a few of the things we are celebrating:

It wasn't so long ago that UNLV fans used a microscope to view the RPI. With a tiny budge either way, hopes for an NCAA berth were either crushed or celebrated. Now, Rebel fans should be thankful that the RPI can be viewed more as a tool for seeding rather than a life support machine. - JS

With players one through five all being able to hit the deep ball routinely, Rebel fans should be thankful that UNLV's long running consecutive game 3-point streak should be in good hands for another season. - TP

Rebel fans should be thankful that layup drills can be replaced by a legitimate dunk contest.- JS

Whatever issues come up, Rebel fans should be thankful that head coach Dave Rice has contingency plans in place to deal with any problems, whether it's injuries, recruiting, etc. - TP

The loss of significant frequent flier miles aside, UNLV fans should be thankful that the Rebels are inching closer and closer to more affordable and convenient post-season locations. Gone are the days of long, expensive (sometimes) two-legged flights back east and to the midwest. Fans will now contemplate a quick, cheap flight versus a drive. - JS

UNLV fans should be thankful that sweating on "Selection Sunday" seems to be a thing of the past. It won't be if anymore but where and when. - TP

Rebel fans should be thankful that UNLV is now closer to McDonald's All American U instead of Walk-On U. - JS

It's a whole new feel. Rebel fans can be thankful that apathy has been replaced by energy in the Las Vegas area. Even when things were going well recently, feelings were held in check. Fans are all aboard the UNLV train, selling out the Thomas & Mack Center for an opening night game against Northern Arizona. - TP

Looking forward, UNLV fans should be thankful that the Rebels will continue to play on the road in front of prominent crowds in actual ARENAS as opposed to a chess club cluster in a gym with a multi-purpose court complete with mangled boundary lines suited for badminton/tennis/basketball/volleyball/hopscotch. - JS

And most of all, Rebel fans can be thankful that their fanhood is in good hands with the Rebellion, the top student section in America. -TP

So, Rebel fans, what are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? Give us your thoughts here on Tarkanian Court from Rebel-Net.com.
