Reinhardt and Marshall key victory over Ravens

Katin Reinhardt is used to putting a team on his shoulders.  In their run to the CIF championship, Reinhardt was the go to man for the Mater Dei Monarchs, even with his shooting hand in a cast.

On Saturday night in Ottawa, it was Reinhardt's second half marksmanship that propelled the UNLV Runnin' Rebels past two time defending Canadian champion Carleton.  UNLV held off the Ravens 74-70.

It took more than Reinhardt's three-point shooting to secure the win over the pesky Ravens.  Anthony Marshall's steal and breakaway slam dunk with less than seven seconds remaining cemented the win.  Marshall also connected on 3-of-4 free throws in the last 30 seconds of the game.

With the Rebels trailing by a game high six points in the second half, Reinhardt scored nine of UNLV's 11 points in an 11-0 run to give the Rebels the lead.  Reinhardt finished with a game high 19 points.

The Rebels had difficulty closing out on the perimeter as the Ravens drained seven three pointers in the first half.  UNLV tightened up on the perimeter and the offensive glass in the second half, only allowing three bombs over the last 20 minutes.

A testament to the purpose of exhibition games, UNLV used all 10 players that traveled.  No player saw less than 11 minutes of action.

The Runnin' Rebels arrived in Canada Thursday night.  Anthony Bennett (Fr., F), Khem Birch (So., F) and Roscoe Smith (Jr., F) are not participating in Canada.  The Rebels will play four games in four days in two cities.

Tonight's game will be uploaded to the UNLV Official Site for free viewing. Details below.
